Altair: The Life and Legend

Original works written, adapted, and directed by Daniel Dickinson as a loving homage to the wonderfully terrible sci-fi movies of the 1950′s and early 1960′s, his series of plays about Queen Altair uses all the standard elements of those films: ridiculous dialogue, wooden performances, cheap special effects, and clumsy, incomprehensible plots full of gaping holes and logic lapses. It’s all there!

Following the success of the original Earth vs. Altair, Queen of Outer Space! in 2008, a sequel The Deadly Ray was presented in 2010. Rather than leaving audiences unfulfilled by the unresolved ending, Dickinson was determined to present a third episode to complete the adventures of the evil alien Queen Altair and the courageous band of humans (and aliens!) dedicated to her overthrow.

Set in the “distant future” of the year 2000, The Call of the Mother-Father! blasts forward and we learn that Altair arrived and conquered earth in 1954. Now, 46 years later, the Earth lies in ruins, and it’s up to our heroes to figure out a way to get rid of Altair once and for all. They are assisted in the endeavor by summoning their alien comrades from Planet X, billions of light years away.

Now a recluse in her Hollywood mansion, Altair lives on the glories of her past, while planning a triumphant return to planetary invasion. But something is draining her powers and causing Altair to lose her memory, while issuing an intergalactic Call that Altair can no longer hear or recognize.

The terrifying secret of her transformation and its universal consequences lies at the very heart of this goofy sci-fi thriller. By the final curtain, audiences will know the fate of Altair…and the entire Universe!
